(SB46) Paralegal

£29,000.00 Per Annum

Paralegal - City Law Firm - 12 Month Fixed term contract (that can be extended)

Essential before we can proceed with your application:

1-year commercial experience +
2.1 LLB or GDL - Law Degree
LPC (ideally Merit or Distinction)

Candidates who have obtained already a training contract for late 2021-2022 would be welcome!

Day to day duties:

The paralegal will take work from a wide range of lawyers within the firm and will be responsible directly to them.

Assisting with legal tasks including:

Legal research.
Preparing first drafts of legal documents (e.g. deeds, contracts, balance of powers etc).
Preparing letters and emails to clients.
Dealing with deed formalities.
Production of consolidated working copies of Trust documents following deeds of amendment.
Proof reading documents and checking cross references etc (e.g. Trust Deed and Rules).
Creation and maintenance of transaction bibles.
Undertaking company searches using the Companies House website.
Drafting letters for submission to The Pension Regulator (TPR).
Assisting with litigation projects including preparation of Court bundles etc.
Providing support to Know–how unit.
Producing the fortnightly Dispute Resolution Bundle.
Incorporating trustee companies.
Phone calls to courts / HMRC / other bodies to clarify legal and administrative issues.
Filing documents at court.
Assisting with billing administration including:
Preparing invoices.
Monitoring time recorded against fee estimates, sending internal flags and updating fee estimates.
Circulating client-specific work schedules for update by lawyers.

Other tasks including:

Day to day administrative tasks as and when requested to include photocopying, file searches etc.
Delivering documents or obtaining signatures on documentation.
New client administration (e.g. money laundering checks etc).
Document review of archived files
Any other reasonable tasks which fall within the general remit of the role.

Person specification

The candidate must have a law degree have passed the LPC. At least one year’s experience within a professional services environment.

Specific skills required include:

·          Must be comfortable working with spreadsheets.

·          Excellent organisational skills.

·          Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

·          Ability to produce own documentation to a professional standard.

·          Ability to liaise confidently with lawyers of all levels and business support staff.

·          Ability to take responsibility for driving recurring processes.
