Project Manager 

 

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to work with a small project management consultancy.

 

This role will give an experienced Project Manager the kind of learning opportunities you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. They are a small, but rapidly growing, consultancy who provides business process, change management and project management services to clients across multiple industries.   

 

This role will provide the opportunity to work with a broad selection of high-profile clients across multiple industries and be part of a dynamic and growing team. Their high profile clients include a number of commercial clients and housing associations / local authorities. 

 

As an organisation they are committed to supporting charities by offering consultancy services for free. They use commercial work to fund the activity. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to work on one of these exciting and rewarding projects. 

 

Projects cover a wide range of areas, but an example project could include: 

 

Managing selection of a solution provider based on a client’s requirements and managing the subsequent project delivery 

 

Project Managing a process improvement project to map an organisations processes and  facilitating changes to current systems to ensure that the system functionality is mapped to business processes 

 

Delivering a global CRM project across multiple sites including, requirements gathering, system development, business readiness, training and go live 

 

The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalise projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes managing resources and coordinating the efforts of the team and third-party members in order to deliver scope according to plan 

 

Predominantly they serve clients who have time critical issues that need addressing. One of the key reasons they pay us to tackle these issues – rather than dealing with them in house – is that they want to accelerate the timescales in which these issues will be addressed. The very nature of consulting is that staff will be working in time-pressured situations. 

 

Responsibilities 

Capture and identify the detailed requirements of the project and establish a clear and concise scope and project plan which is then executed with a clear understanding of involved tasks, dependencies and progress 

 

To deliver excellent client service and communication throughout the project delivery process, effectively and pro-actively managing issues and risks 

 

To effectively manage project communications through regular team updates, reporting and management of the steering group 

 

Ensuring all parties are clear on their responsibilities within the plan and are delivering according to the requirements 

 

Driving the business change elements of the change through communication, business readiness and training 

 

To be responsible for managing and co-ordinating all project team members, whether they are internal, client resources or third-party resources 

Adherence to toolkits and methodology 

 

Location: Base location is London (mobile working available). Candidate will be expected to travel within UK and International travel may be required 

 

Your Skills 

 

You will be exceptionally versed in formal project management and tools and techniques 

You will build and maintain excellent relationships with clients. Outstanding communication skills across multiple levels are essential 

You will have the ability to work alongside a varied group of clients, from mid-tier management all the way up to Directors 

You will be able discover the root causes of problems, identify their solutions and challenge clients and suppliers to maximise opportunities and drive change 

Ability to understand project detail, close out ambiguity and confidently articulate solutions to complex business problems 

You will have the ability to lead a project through to delivery, managing a diverse range of resources  

Confident in performing in a fast paced, challenging environment, and have the ability to appropriately prioritise activities to suit business requirements 

 

Your Experience 

 

·         At least 5 years recent experience within Project Management (including IT and business focused delivery) 

·         You will have experience of the day to day management of projects from conception to go-live including proven skills in the delivery of business and IT aspects of projects 

·         You will have experience in delivering projects across a number of industries 

·         Proven ability to lead teams and communicate effectively at all levels 

·         Project management qualification (i.e., Prince II Practitioner) (Desirable) 

·         Experience of working in a consultancy environment is not required
