Head of Legal EMEA

Our client is a global leader within the technology sector. They have a European HQ just outside of London and have just under 2,000 staff in their key offices and plants throughout Europe.

Job overview

Drafting, review and negotiation of contract terms with clients, counterparty banks, distribution partners and suppliers.
Draft and review ad hoc legal documents (e.g. NDAs), manage general legal queries and advise on a variety of issues facing a high-growth company such as data protection and intellectual property
Keep fully up to date with commercial, IT, regulatory and other legal developments (e.g. GDPR, PSD2 etc), identifying those which impact directly on the business and facilitating or taking the appropriate action to resolve issues
Be responsible for all EMEA BASED Secretarial matters including managing the Group structure, statutory filings etc.
Create and update contracts, T&Cs, internal policies, systems, and controls
Manage external legal resources to ensure our client plugs in specific expert advice when needed, whilst carefully controlling costs
Introduce processes and procedures to facilitate the launch of products in a safe and compliant manner
Work closely with the senior leadership team to advise on legal matters and manage external counsel effectively in respect of costs and quality legal advice
Manage any litigation for the company
Pragmatically risk assess situations and provide your legal steer to a wide variety of matters
Stay up-to-date with technological and regulatory developments that impact their products across the UK, EU and worldwide are kept current
Work with Human Resources and outside counsel to ensure employee contracts, handbooks, compensation structures, templates, employment policies and processes are kept updated
Management of existing contracts and subcontracts with clients, distribution partners, counterparty banks and suppliers.
Implementation and management of standard agreements such as NDA’s, terms and conditions
Supporting the business with compliance and regulatory change projects.
Drafting and reviewing policies and procedures resulting from regulatory changes.
Keeping up to date with regulatory changes in the UK, EU and other jurisdictions in which the firm conducts business.


You will be a UK-qualified lawyer (min. 5 PQE as a guide) with strong training in a prominent law firm and experience as a Head of Legal working a corporate commercial environment. In-house exposure is necessary for the position. The successful candidate will have a passion for technology in business and an insatiable curiosity and the drive to assist with the continuous growth of the business. You will have the credibility to work closely with key decision-makers with a commercial mindset.
